Description
Portobel with its forts, cannons, tales of pirates, and lovely beaches, Portobelo is a harbor rich in history. This experience is exceptional in the Panamanian Caribbean due to its great cuisine, Afro-descendant culture, and the friendliness of its people. You will go to Fort Santiago de Portobelo's ruins. Since all of the gold from the Spanish colonies originated at this site, it was a very significant landmark during colonial times. The oldest Spanish fort on the continent, construction on it began in 1598. Many pirates, including the well-known pirate Henry Morgan, have attacked it.
We will board a boat out of the Portobelo port and travel through the mangroves, where we can admire the stunning turquoise color of the sea and starfish. Here you will enjoy a day at the beach sunbathing or appreciating the coral while snorkeling.
