After traveling across South America and Europe for years, I've learned one thing: few places can pack as much variety and beauty into one trip as Colombia. From its lush coffee-growing hills to its lively cities and stunning Caribbean beaches, this country is a true gem waiting to be explored. I’m excited to share with you this 10-day itinerary that will take you through Colombia’s coffee region, the bustling streets of Medellín, and the relaxing shores of the Caribbean. Trust me, it's an experience you won’t forget.
Days 1-3: Discovering the Coffee Triangle
We kick off in Colombia’s Coffee Triangle—a region that’s as scenic as it is flavorful. If you’re a coffee lover (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?), this place will feel like heaven. The towns of Salento and Manizales are the heart of Colombia’s coffee culture, and walking through their rolling green hills is a treat for the senses.
One of the highlights here is visiting the local coffee farms, where you can learn all about the coffee-making process, from bean to cup. There’s nothing quite like sipping on a fresh brew while surrounded by the same plants that produced it. And for those looking for some outdoor adventure, hiking through the stunning Cocora Valley, home to Colombia’s iconic wax palms, is a must-do.
Days 4-6: Medellín – A City Like No Other
After a few days in the countryside, we head to Medellín, a city that's truly a testament to change and innovation. Known for its transformation over the past couple of decades, Medellín is now a hub of creativity and culture. The first thing you’ll notice? The perfect weather—it’s called the “City of Eternal Spring” for a reason.
Exploring the city, you’ll find yourself hopping on the famous Medellín cable cars for sweeping views of the city and its surrounding mountains. One of my favorite stops is Comuna 13, where vibrant street art tells the story of the city’s incredible comeback.
Days 7-10: The Caribbean Coast – Relax and Unwind
For the final leg of the journey, we head to the coast for some sun and relaxation. The Caribbean side of Colombia is all about chilled-out vibes, colorful culture, and, of course, beautiful beaches. Cartagena is the star here, with its charming colonial architecture, rich history, and a lively energy that’s hard to resist.
But no trip to the Caribbean is complete without some beach time. The Rosario Islands, just a short boat ride away, offer the perfect escape. With crystal-clear waters and pristine beaches, it’s the ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, or just soaking up the sun. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to hit pause and simply enjoy the moment.
