In March 2023 me and a friend decided to take a trip to a beach in Ecuador. After some research, we decided to go to Canoa. The reason we choose Canoa was that it is rather close to Quito when taking a bus. It is closer than for example Montanita Beach. Furthermore, we read a lot of good things about the beach. Since we were two girls traveling together safety was something to take into account when deciding on our beach destination.
Online we read that the beach was relaxed and safe. We also looked at photos and compared it to other beaches like Los Frailes and Montanita. After comparing the photos and articles we came to the conclusion that Canoa Beach was the best option regarding safety and transportation.
Canoa Beach in Ecuador is known for its long stretch of golden sand, warm and calm waters, and relaxed atmosphere. It is a popular destination for surfers and beachgoers who want to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful and scenic environment. The beach also has a variety of restaurants, bars, and accommodations, making it a convenient and comfortable place to stay. Additionally, Canoa Beach is located near several natural attractions, such as the Machalilla National Park and the Isla de la Plata, which offer opportunities for hiking, wildlife watching, and snorkeling.
Transportation from Quito:
We left Quito around 23.30 in the night and 7 hours later we arrived at Canoa beach. We stayed in a hostel close to the beach and were lucky that we could already check in at 7 am in the morning. The bus company that we booked was called Reina and it went directly from Quito to Canoa Beach. It was a long bus ride but definitely worth it.
After a bit of rest, we went to get some food at a restaurant at the beachfront. And it was exactly as the articles said. It felt safe and beautiful!
We enjoyed 3 days at the beach and this was perfect! There were beautiful sunsets and kind people. I would definitely recommend this beach for a few days!
